How to Change Brake Pads
Here are a set of instructions on how to change your brake pads. Generally it is a good idea to resurface your rotors every time the brake
pads are replaced. Call your local mechanic or parts store and ask about turning/resurfacing rotors.
1. Raise the vehicle with a jack and jack stands.
2. Remove both front wheels.
Note: Work on one side first and use the other side as a reference
3. Remove bolts holding caliper in place.(there are usually two)

4. Carefully slide out caliper from rotor.
Warning: Never let caliper hang by brake line. Use a bungee cord or zip tie to hold it in place
before moving on to the next step.
5. Remove the bolt that holds the brake line bracket.
6. Remove the bolts or clamps holding the brake pads to the rotors.
7. Use the palm of your hand or a C clamp to push the piston back in, this will allow the new pads to fit over the rotor.
8. Apply brake grease liberally to the back of the brake pads. (this is the side that touches the caliper.)
9. Place the brake pads back on the caliper.
10. Carefully slide the caliper over the rotor.
11. Remove the zip tie or bungee cord you used to keep the caliper from hanging by the brake line.
12. Screw the caliper bolts back into place.
13. Secure the brake line bracket with the bolt removed in step five.
14. Repeat steps 3 thru 13 for the other side.
15. Install the front wheels and tighten down the lug nuts.
16. Using a jack, remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle.
17. Pump the brake pedal five to six times to ensure the piston pushes the brake pads to their optimal location.
18. Follow manufacturing instructions on how to burnish (brake in) the brake pads.
Do not assume your brakes pads work properly simply because you just replaced them. Be cafeful during the break in period as in some cases you will not be able to stop.
